For those of you who missed the announcement at the pig roast this summer, Mike P decided to retire and sell Rust Reaper.  Since we liked the stuff so much we decided to buy it.  We changed the name and the color.  We have a new website thanks to Jeff with neat animation.  You can check it out at www.bluecreeper.com.  You may have noticed that Jeff has already changed the sponsor section to reflect the name change.

Someone already used the new site to order.  Any guess?

Tammy, I used a few drops on some old clock gears and my old clock works better than it did brand new. It used to stop a lot. It has now been ticking along for nearly a week, and it also freed up the bell ringer. Clocks are delicate work, and I imagine dust had a lot to do with the troubles. I also replaced a pendulum spring that had broke. But, nonetheless the clock works well now, so I blame it on bluecreeper.  ;D

Just placed an order, like the new site.

That site rocks.  I got one of the little bottles at the Pig Roast.  Good stuff.

I ordered the 13 oz squirt bottle.   :)

I love the stuff!! Use it on guns, Bikes, everything I take apart gets a drop or 2. Gave some to my Son who is a mechanic and have converted him from WD and rust buster.

I wish it was medical grade so I could put some in my knee joints. ;D

That would be  vet grade DMSO ,a solvent .Not approved for humans but they use it on horses .

So  now I've never heard of this rust buster  stuff .Is it better than Kroil ? I just a few months ago sent for a gallon of it myself and it works fine, best I've ever seen .

I'm inandated with rusty junk so anything better  I'm all ears .

beenthere

I was sold on Kroil, until the RustReaper Bluecreeper became available. Loosened rusted parts where Kroil wouldn't touch. And smelled much better. Kroil sticks around like diesel or gasoline smell.

I've passed the reeper around to several friends (welding shop, car repair shop, and fabricator) and received great comments of satisfaction and the "couldn't believe it worked so well" so figured it wasn't just me.
One of the more grateful was a friend who ended up with a huge collection of old guns from a widow of a long time friend. This collection was huge, and included long guns, pistols, blunderbuss, old dueling pistols, and apparently every commemorative gun offered for many years. After the collector passed away, his collection remained in a lower basement area that the widow didn't keep temp/humidity controlled as she didn't know what could happen.
So many of the guns were not working from sitting so long (figured a good 15 years as the collector was sick and unable to care for his collection). The collection was being prepared for sale, and with so many guns and pistols that wouldn't function, the potential sale value was not looking too good.
On a whim, as RR was new to me, I gave the friend a bottle of RR to try. He became an instant user and believer in RR. Said it did a remarkable job getting the parts to move freely, as well as it dressed up the surface of the bluing. He had been trying many different penetrants with no success.
In the end, the real winner was the widow getting more for her guns at the gun shows.

I am not familiar with Kroil. Rust-buster is very much like PB blaster neither work any where near as well as  Bluecreeper in my opinion plus it smells nice.

Al_Smith

I did a Google on that stuff after I made that last post .It seems WW Grainger carries the stuff and we have store right here in town .Plus the fact I get a pretty good huyers discount there myself .

Jeff

Let's be clear here. We were originally talking about rustreaper not rust buster.  Rustreaper was a long time forum sponsor and a great product that everyone that tried it knows kicks all of those foul smelling products collective butts.  Grainger never stocked rustreaper to my knowledge.

Rustreaper's owner decided to retire, and rather than allow the products to retire, Logrite tools bought the company. THe only change made to the product was the color and the name to reflect the new ownership. The very same product that many of us have come to see as an indispensable tool in our repertoire.

All in the marketing Al. A lot of "junk" is out there to fool the customer. And sadly a lot of local stores have resorted to selling the junk because it's cheaper. It's gotten to the point something like stovepipe, screws, fasteners and sand paper all have to be ordered if you want decent stuff.  ::)

This maybe my fault as I was comparing Rustreaper/Blue Creeper to the others although there really is no comparison. Huge thumbs up to Blue Creeper!!

After I got it straight it appears that rust buster stuff is kind of pricey .This creeper stuff is actually a tad cheaper than Kroil by the gallon .

Now on that ordering stuff ,if I can get it locally fine .If they get the bright idea I'm going to pay additional shipping when they already have shipments coming in I'll find it on the net .No problem my money spends just as good in South Carolina as it does in Ohio .

Oh good heavens .I said that this blue creeper is cheaper than Kroil .

I also alluded to the fact that I attempt to support local businesses however I won't be taken advantage of like paying for the shipping on something they are just out of stock at the time I need it .Sears tries that .Of course Sears tried a lot of things that backfired on them in the past . :D

Jeff

The ultimate goal is to get enough people to realize how much better this product is that it can be purchased everywhere locally. Ask your local hardware or auto parts store to order a case and buy it from them. :)

Sears, in my opinion may be a little high compared to others, but they stand behind what they sell. This is my experience with Sears Canada anyway. What a lot of stores do is make the customer deal with the manufacturer over the warrantee. Sears will take the product back and no hassles.

The trouble with that is these stores deal with distributors for products. Same with sandpaper, screws, nails and so on. I've asked over the years about certain products in Canadian Tire and they always point to the distributor. Want anything decent for the money and it's got to be ordered. ::)

I usually just buy a gallon of whatever like WD-40 or Kroil and would probabley do the same for this stuff . Fact I might just do that pretty soon .I have an old Mac Super 44 that's stuck and I'd like to make a vintage hot saw out of it . If this stuff is better than Kroil ,I'll give it a try .

I've used it on a rebuild of my brush saw and I cut 150 acres on it since, plus another 30 about to be whacked. ;D

We have a old troy build rototiller that has been sitting out for years. Locked up tight. My Son squirted some Rust Reeper/Blue Creeper down the hole. Next day it pulled fine.

Last night he called me asking that I get some more as he wants to take it to the shooting range to show the others how well it works on his competition guns and for wiping them down to store.

This is good stuff Guys!

I use it on my guns too, if memory serves me well , I think it was one of the first things it was made for in the begining for Rust Reaper. I wipe down my black powder with it after cleaning the barrel and it has been much easier to clean after shooting it since having done so. The breech plug sure is easier to get out for cleaning  :)

Ain't that the truth!!!  I have a fantasy about having a high quality hardware store.  Focusing on hardware.  I have to go to 5 different stores sometimes before I find what I'm looking for, and many times they don't have it and I have to find it online.  I'd like one local store with any hardware (fasteners bushings etc) that you'd need.  I'd also have a small custom machine shop attached for those unique parts they need.  A lot of these stores don't focus on their hardware, when that is what would get me in the door.  If they waste my time by not having what I need, especially when it's not an uncommon hardware item, it makes me mad and I won't buy anything.  But when you cater to people with having the hardware they need, even if it's not very profitable, you can then also sell them the other more common stuff they need where you can make your money.

My time clock started loosing time last week, 15 minutes a day. I thought I was going to have to buy a new one. Read this thread and tried the rust reaper on it two days ago. It's working great again!

And how good the customer service is. I got in late yesterday from combining and remembered to shoot them a request on the website about my order status. Now this was late on a Friday so really didn't expect to hear about it until Monday. Not an hour later I had an email from Tammy saying it shipped the same day I ordered but since she was at home couldn't track it. If I didn't get the order on Monday let her know and she'd track it for me.

Thanks Tammy!

Used it today to replace a catalytic converter/head pipe.  Some of the bolts were rusted beyond being able to grab them to remove.  But some like the hanger bracket would come out after i soaked them in Bluecreeper, then backed them out, then as the rusted threads started hanging up I'd add more blue creeper, tighten them back down a few turns(to spread the blue creeper) and then back them out further.  AFter a few times doing that, they came out without snapping the bolts.  I would bet  they would have snapped if not for the lubrication  and running them in and out.

Geeze I've got that stuff ,WD-40 ,diesel fuel and kerosine plus Marvel mystery oil .I'd certainly think with the addition of the creeper I should be able to unstick any thing .

I'd like to think of a way to unstick the governments hand out of my wallet but that's another subject all together .I don't think they make a penetrant in the world to make that happen .

Just trying to fit in with you Guys! :D First I got the hat then the Woodmizer CD and now a peavy ;D

Actually I look and drool at them but right now I think my trees are too small and I don't have enough time to spend with one. It would just sit idle for a couple years which can't be good.

I've got  many blow downs I need to clean up for firewood so I got the peavey for that.
