Or harmful?

I have a customer with a big pile of cedar logs.  When I finish milling, his wife wants to put the sawdust around the flowerbeds and crepe myrtles.  He asked if that was okay?  I told him I thought it was but let me check with some experts??

i have it around my global arborvitae shrubs, as well as the wild rose bushes here.   it breaks down rather fast tho for some reason.
