I am going to purchase a 25" bar for my Stihl MS391.  There are two to chose from, a low kick back, and a normal one.  Does it make that much of a difference?  Right now it has a low kick bar.

Knowing what causes the kick back is the main reason for not needing low kick back chains and bars.
The radius of the bar nose is what determines whether it's considered low kick back or not.

Just make sure it's a good quality bar, especially if you're ripping like you said in your other thread. A Stihl ES rollomatic or an Oregon Power Match Plus should do the trick. I've had less oil hole plugging problems with the Oregon using the angled oil hole.

I switched to Oregon because of the plugging problem with Stihl, and the price at Bailey's or other online stores is about 20 bucks less than the Stihl dealer. I think Stihl does use better steel, though.
