Hey Fellas,

Check out this idea.  Inside every full-sized computer that people throw away on trash day,  there are at least two very powerful 'rare earth'  magnets.  The magnets are inside the disk drive which can be opened gently by unscrewing the t8 torx screws or by cutting the case open with a wafer disk.

Anyway, I have a collection of these magnets and I recently attached them to the top inside of a 5 gallon bucket that I carry my field supplies for my chainsaw.  It works pretty well and keeps them from disappearing down in the bottom of the bucket  especially the little screwdrivers for carb tuning.

This could be used in many other ways.  I was wondering about mounting one on the plastic of the chainsaw to hold the little screwdriver or scrench .

What do you think?  Good enough to win a free years subscription for FF? ;-)

An excellent idea and something I did not know of, too! ;)

Those are neodymium magnets, they are really strong. I have a coffe can using it the same way. Great idea.

I prefer not to have my tools magnetized except for the occasional screwdriver, and especially not files.
