I am thinking about putting up a fence around part of my property. If it's possible, I would like to saw all of my own rails, pickets, and posts. I would like to learn how to treat my own posts. Are there any threads on the FF that relate to this topic?
Thanks,
Hugh

How long will the fence be? What kind of wood will you be using?

The best way to treat your own posts is to pick a wood that is already rot-resistant. Black locust would be the best available wood in your area.
