Japanese Barberry removal

An acre or two of my woods has been taken over by Japanese Barberry.  It's time to get rid of it so new trees can grow and before it spreads any further.

Short of pulling the entire root system out of the ground, does anyone have a good way to get rid of this invasive?   
LT40HDG38, Logrite T36 log arch, 42 hp Kubota, 6 foot cross cut saw, lots of axes and not enough time
