I was just watching Biography on the A&E channel. They had a little montage of people that we lost during the last year. I guess I remember hearing about each one, but did not realize what a list it was. Many of the names were a big part of my memories growing up. Bob Hope, Buddy Epson, Buddy Hackett, Kate Hepburn, John Ritter and many many more.

I found this link that if you use the next button goes through thier pictures and a short note about each.

There is a song "Who's gonna' fill their shoes", or something like that.   I look at today's pornographic and anti-establishment oriented intertainment industry and wonder who has the gumption to put morals over money.

If my elementary school only taught subjects that the students wanted to take (the film industries excuse) then I would have taken recess and lunch all day. :)

I'm going to miss Art Carney too.

I read that someone,  I believe Mel Gibson, plans to make a film on the last days of Christ.  He reportedly is under heavy criticism by others in the industry because he wants to make it 100% according to the scriptures.

Those were all great actors and actress's.  I think that is accentuated by the fact that they were great without being vulgar.  They had a refinement of their trade that made them standout among their peers.  To many of the actors today depend on profanity, nudity and a malicious nature  :o to try and achieve stardom. Although there are many actors of today that I like and enjoy their number are minuscule when compared to those from an earlier generation. They will be missed. Art Carney was one of my favorites, in the Honeymooners and many of his later movies. They don't come much better. ;D

These so call people that want to take God out of every thing, are wantabees. They want to be something but just cant figure out what.
These people crack me up, they want to take God away from us, but when something awful happens, they say, O-Lord help us.

One of my favorite stories, that I think about often, is about Buddy Epson:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ebsen was earning $2,000 a week at MGM in 1938, when studio boss Louis B. Mayer summoned him and announced: "Ebsen, in order to give you the parts you deserve, we must own you."

The dancer recalled that he replied: "I'll tell you what kind of a fool I am, Mr. Mayer, I can't be owned." He quit his contract, returning to touring as a dancer and playing Chicago for more than a year in a farce, "Good Night, Ladies." He served three years in the Coast Guard during World War II.

Watched the same show and this year it really seemed to hit home with me.  Who could possibly replace some of these people( Bronson, Cash, Peck, Hope...etc.) ?.   Each year the passing of people of significance seems to have more and more effect on me because It registers that these folks that have graced our lives are real just like each of us and sadly they pass.  Makes you want to enjoy every day and every pleasure with more intensity, purpose, and thankfulness !

I saw a similar tribute on AMC or TCM but they listed many more stars and notables.

Being a big fan of old westerns, I was saddened to see one of my favorites, Jack Elam, was among those on the list.

I tried to find a link on the TCM or AMC website listing the names but failed.

Elam was one of my favorites, too. Bronson and Matthau and Lemmon will be missed also.

Don't forget the replacement factor for stars.  As one gets old and dies another one takes their place.  Tonight Kathy and I watched the Seabiscut move and wow! if there ever was one to take some awards that is one.  Trivia question:  What is Ben Hur's first name? ??? ???
