I wanted to add some "how to" instructions on my webpage about how to frame rough openings in log construction so that the window/door frame will allow the logs to settle. I have used slotted jambs where the lagbolts could slide down and there was space above the top of the frame to allow the spanning log room to come down. There is also the method of cutting a groove in the log ends and adding a wood strip to the jambs to act as a tongue in groove.

Does anyone have any good photos they would be willing to share?

Thanks,
Fred
