will my detriot on my knuckleboom handle a saw? i have asked this before but i was going to buy another skidder, but i dont want to have something so big that ill have to hire a lowboy to haul from job to job. i look at a NICE 3 acre tract today. its all grade sawlogs 8). if i buy a cutter thats another piece of equip. i might have to work on. so i might buy another jonsered and put a slasher package on the loader :)

i doubt the pump on the h model is big enough for a slasher but the getroit would handle a big enough pump.   working by yourself i doubt that youll be putting enough wood on the landing with that little skidder to need a saw package.  i move a lot more wood per day with my f66g  than you do  with the tree farmer and dont have a saw on my 210 yet.

What kind of goals are you trying to reach by adding a saw on the landing?

it would be handy for pulp wood. i ran a 210 at the mill i hauled to up from the house, and used a ctr 42 to help cut the 18' logs in half. i like how much quicker it cuts the logs up. i was going to try to make an extra load a day. my pump is a 3 stage, but only has two stages running.

It would make things easier.  But would it make you more money?  How much are you cutting per day now?  do you run the truck too?

I don't want to sound like a know-it-all but.....  I cut and skidd a lot of logs in my life with a cable skidder in PA.  I started out with a cancar c4 by my self and ended up with multiple  2 and 5 man crews working for me.

let me know when you start cutting your next job.  maybe i can give you a few tips that can get you that extra load with out spending any more money.

remember getting bigger is not always better.

The most money I ever made in the woods was me and one other guy working for me.  all I had was 3 good chainsaws, a 240TJ, and a pickup to haul the fuel, the saws, and us.

i usually do it all. cut, skid, load, drive. i guess i just want it easier, and i have always wanted a sawbuck. i looked at a job yesterday, about three acres, every tree i can get almost 2 good grade or veneer logs out of :)
