You can buy a tree identification book from the Arborday Foundation or you can use the on-line program.

Here are links for the on-line version and the link to buy the book/pamphlet for $5.00.

There is no need to say 'unleaded regular gas'. It's all unleaded. Just say 'regular gas'. It's not the 70s anymore. (At least that's what my wife tells me.)

Forest Products Lab Has Had Its Share of Interesting Stories

Wisconsin State Journal (April 27) - The US Forest Service's Forest Products Laboratory has played a role in such diverse and interesting tales as the Lindbergh baby kidnapping; Howard Hughes' quixotic plan to build a flying boat; and, more recently, the search for the cause of a rash of broken bats in Major League Baseball.

New children's book "The Wild Life of Elk" now available

A first-of-its-kind, beautifully illustrated children's book about elk is now available for purchase at Mountain Press.  About 80 percent of wild elk in the United States spend all or part of their lives on National Forest System lands but no comprehensive book about elk exists for children.  This publication, developed through the U.S. Forest Service/Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) partnership, will support existing interpretive and educational programs and curricula about natural resources.

In keeping with this participating agreement, 2,000 copies of the book will be distributed free-of-charge to youth, students, and teachers and/or through other educational venues at no charge.  Contact Jim McGowan, RMEF/USFS Liaison, jemcgowan@fs.fed.us, or Kim Winter, NatureWatch Program Leader, kawinter@fs.fed.us, for more information.
