Looks like fun.  Are these slabs dried?  If not why dress them?

The things you find of yaself when ya look around!!!! hahaha

I knew Carl took some pics of the planing head workin, didn't figure I made it into the pics though ;D

The slabs where dry, the planing head works much better when the timber is dry, I'm still amazed how good a job it does ( I gotta remember to spin the teeth around when I go back to Carls to do more slabs)

The timber was what we call Bluegum, others down under call it Forest Red Gum, sometimes you get a nice big fat tree like this to pull slabs from, but a moth has deposited it's larvae in it and the DanG things leave inch to two inch fat holes through ya slab  >:( then ya get other times when the slab is just perfect...

and a close up of what she really looked like straight off the saw...

This log was 4.5m (almost 15') long and up to 1.2m wide (4')

Who's fiddlin with what Chris? :o

Yeah I am impressed with how nice a finish it gives, I also like how you can vary how good the finish is by just taking a smaller or bigger bite and then slowing down or speeding up the travel down the rails, so especially when it comes to knots and figured timber you can slow right down and make 'em come up like glass, then drive through the straight grain and it still looks magic
