hay all,Thanks for all the greets.Happy to be part of this.Just a little more on the mills, they both have wood frames. The differances between the two is the oldest one has gearteath on the dog locks and the other has a cam style lock. Not sure of the year of them yet.Be fun to find out.I do know the story on the newest one,it was bought new, cut the lumber for 1 house them bought by the guy I got it from.He never set it up just let it sit there all these years. The wood is totaly gon on the old one but the new one has enough to patern off of.Havent decided on wood or steel yet.Really thinking white oak.My place has a bunch of it that wuold make nice timbers.

Welcome! Sounds like you have plenty of work ahead of you. It has taken me the better part of a year for me to get as far as I am now ,and mine was on steel. I dont think there is a bolt on in that I havent turned or changed. But I am close now. I am sure any questions you have can be answered here!,  Good Luck

Shiner, that headsaw will clean up,just be sure to leave the old bits and skanks in it so you don't damage the pockets.Around the mill site see if you can find the tool for twisting the shanks in and out, their about 18/20" cast with a handle at one end and a slot and "U" clip at the outher end.Id start off with new bits and shanks and have a sawsmith tension it to your chosen speed. Most belsaws were tensioned for 540rpm[tractor PTO speed] with a different engine you could go a little faster.Frank C.
