hi this year I will be a Rookie to the Sugar Shack
my friend loves his Sugar Shack like we like our Sawmill and Chainsaws

in the past I have stopped by when his operation is running
at night and he is So Happy if that day was a Good Run of Sap
his phone rings from the other locals guys and people stop in when
they see the lights on

His operation is an Oil Fired Unit and Stainless Steel
Maybe we can get his permission to talk some pictures
and post them here

He also has a Candy Machine to make Maple Candy and that sounds Fun too

Got Have Fun
and it helps when it Tastes good too

I don't think I will be making syrup this year . Cousin Orvile who had the sugar shack died as he got out of his truck at the butcher shop . He had a load of elk to get butchered . We will miss him a bunch.      :(

He was raising the elk and had just sold all his cattle and got into buffalo.
He lived in southern Illinois , and we called him our redneck cousin.  He had a good sence of humor ,and just loved to ajatate some who were full of themselves.  He was only a couple of months older than I am.  Yes it was sad. we had a lot of fun making maple syrup .

Don, sorry to hear about your cousin, with that array of livestock I'd liked to have met him.

Red, keep us updated, this something no one around here does ( that I'm aware of) and I'd like to hear about it, pictures would be great of course.  Do the trees have better runs some days than others?

It is amazing  the differance a day (or night) makes in the run.  You need a freezing night with a warming sunny day to make the sap flow heavy.
