One of the greatest things about retirement from teaching is the fact that I no longer get every cold and flu strain that gets passed around by the students.  In fact,  I can't remember getting sick even once since I retired in 2000.   Well...I went to a family Christmas party last week, lots of kids there,  and here I set this week filling up snot rags and gulping down cold medicine.  Silly me.  Today was the third day and I've turned the corner but it ain't been fun.
Merry Christmas everyone and I hope Santa is good to you.

Well if it helps you any Quinton I married a nurse and I'm pretty sure I get everything that goes through the hospital ::).  Actually I think she really has built a tolerance to it and I'm hoping she passes that on to me as well, and what the heck, she's worth it ;)

Hot peppers and garlic will cure what ails you. A good hot toddy will make you feel better and stop the cough.

Where I come from there's no special recipe for a hot toddy. It's gotta be hot, and it's gotta have booze of one kind or another, and other than that, mix to your own taste.

Qweaver, the problem in your situation is that you haven't been exposed for 10 years and your immune system has forgotten how to fight off a cold. One way or 'tother, you lose.

I make my toddy with a finger of water, one of Jack, spoonful of honey, and the juice of a key lime. Pop it in the microwave for about 25 - 30 seconds. Works better than any storebought cough syrup to stop a cough in  a hurry.
