i was watching swamp loggers and i noticed something, why are there loaders set up on tracks? are they smoother or more powerful? i also went on the tigercat site and found my dream loader, a 220.

Less ground pressure, so less likely to sink in the swamp?

Low Ground Pressure, Stability (weight), traction, Power.. I had a chance to run an old Pro-Pac 6wd truck Chassis Mounted Stroke Delimber, Thing was very tippy Compared to a Denharco stroke Delimber mounted on a Tracked Carrier. A tracked Carrier has much larger Hydraulic set-up (Run the undercarrage, Swing)to be able to handle larger Grapple loads, and a bit more weight keeps them Glued to the ground better.  Watch When they run the "old" Loader that thing Jumps around alot when swinging logs

That LGP is sweet. After reading about some of you adventures I think you need mobility.

also he can pick up his slasher and move without having to get pulled around by a skidder or hooked to a road tractor. and if need be he could unhook the slasher and go shovel logging with the same machine.

Exactly.  The flexibility of the tracked loader is huge.
