Had a storm blow thru yesterday about 5:30 pm. I was home early for a change. Rain, hai,l some wind and lots of lightning. Just about to have dinner at 6 and a car pulls up to the house and the lady in it tells me there is tree on fire on my land. I go down to the river and a 12" white pine is split top to bottom and it is on fire 20' off the ground. I grab the saw and a bucket. I dropped the tree in the swamp and put it out with a few buckets of water. The tree was damaged from the ice storm and a dead part lit up. Never saw that before. Really filled the valley with smoke.

Wow, it seems very fortunate that the woman just happened along and then let you know about the fire in time to keep it from spreading.  I would thank the Lord for that one!
"Pure gold fears no fire!" - (Ancient Chinese proverb)  What do you fear?

Extremely fortunate.  Glad you were able to get it put out before it turned into something bad.

I was lucky someone could see it. The woods are very dry and there is a lot of brush in that area. The split was not there before.
