I met a guy today that has an old 500 4 head planer/moulder that he wants to get rid of for about $0.10/lb. It is powered by a diesel engine. It is currently stored in an old shed that is falling down and has not been used in 10-15 years. He does have some moulding knives and tongue & groove knives. Is this something worth investigating and/or re-building? He said I could check it out anytime. What should I look for?

That's a pretty vague description. Pictures would be nice. I'm guessing cause it has a diesel powerplant that it is probably an older flat belt machine. There were several manufacturers of those back in the day. I have two moulders of that vintage and a lead on two more.
