Hello, I just got a Franklin winch off of a skidder a guy cut up for scrap.  The skidder was an older little fella (8 lugs on axles) and I don't know the model of it or the winch.  It had a 353 for power, and the winch says (duh) franklin on it, but has no external clutch, and  does have cable control.  It didn't bolt flat onto a plate like my gearmatic, but bolted with two vertically cast flanges onto angle on the original skidder.  I got the winch for scrap price, and was wondering if they were any good, compared to a gearmatic.  The previous owner says it did work well.
