I am trying to remember the name of a famous American photographer. He specialised in taking shots of trains using alot of artificial light, probably in the 1950s. The specific photo I am thinking of  was a shot of a steam train thundering over a bridge while people swam in the river below.
Any ideas?
Thanks John

Yes , he's the one. We have an old railway carriage that we are converting into  a small holiday home, one of his prints would look great on one of the walls.
thanks John

There is an ad with a photo in our local hotel, a caboose! Converted into a house, even has the running gear under it. No price posted but he says it is less than a new 3/4 ton truck.

JPH, I can link to the link to Link's photos, but I'd really like to see some pics of your railway carriage house. ;D

Thanks John, that was a neat story about the old rail car.  I seem to have missed it when it was first posted.  It must have come along during one of my computerless periods. ;)

Wow, thanks to the guy who posted the link to O. Winston Link photos.
I grew up in the railroad town of Delanson NY named for the Delaware and Hudson Railroad.
Went to sleep many times to the tune of the steam whistle and chug chug of the locomotives.
It is 16 miles west of Schenectady NY home of the American Locomotive Company (now defunct) maker of lots of high quality steam and diesel locomotives.
They made the famous Big boy articulated steam locomotive for the union Pacific railroad in the late 40s.' I think about 12 or 13 of them.
Steam went out there in the early 50's when I was in my early teens and diesel prevailed since then.
I worked at the ALCo. in the mid 50's as a drafting apprentice but went into forestry in 58.
