hello i own 2 timberjack 360 skidders  a cable and grapple both models.  i  really like them  and wanted some other opinons of you guys thought of them

I own a 360 and a 230. I like the 230 its a lot easier to trailer around and get around in the woods and burns only a portion of fuel the 380 does. But the 380 is a pullin machine the winch is a world of power more than the 230. The 380 grapple I thought when I got it that it was the way to go. A lot of the time it's just in the way. We do select cutting and I take everything down to about 8"for firewood.Thats worth as much as the saw logs today. The grapple works great if I were only taking the trunk or if I was pulling the whole tree. But by pulling the whole tree you would do way to much dammage to the remaining young trees along the skid road. But taking just the trunk I have to make a second trip to clean up the firewood and theres usally 4-5 pieces and at some point between the pickup point and landing I'll lose some and have to make a third trip. Thats why I use the cable I have 6 sliders so I can take 6 pieces out and almost never have to look back when I get to the landing there behind me.

what year is your 360 ? is it a cable or grapple ?

mine is a 360 timberjack they didnt make a 360 until 1995

Whoops sorry mines a 380. The 380 is the new 360. Whats really strange is the 360,380 and 450 all have the same frame just differances in moters and rears

I think you mean 350 not 360.  The 60 series did not come out untill the mid 90's, where the 50 and 80 series were form (dont quote me) 78-94'.

But to the original post i do like 360's they pull agood hitch and they manuver around a little better than the 460's in the tighter spots.  but i have found that they tend to like to lift a rear wheel when backing up a steep hill but that would be my only gripe.

timberjack97

i agree with you they are not real staple on hills what year is yours ?i have a cable and grapple skidder both  they are 1997s  the year

I never owned a 360, just ran one for a year or so for a sawmill I used to cut for.  I belive it was a 98' it had the newer digital style dash display.

Dave90240

the original 300 series timberjack was 330 360 then the 404 was the big one just another useless fact

treefarmer87

We have no idea what his sensitization is, or what he owns.
Third generation logger, owner operator, 30 yrs felling experience with pole skidder. I got my neck broke back in 89, left me a quad. The wife kept the job going up to 96.

Hmm...renting a cable skidder at $75 an hour to skid behind a buncher, when you have a 360 grapple sitting in the yard. I guess you can do that as long as your crew is making their 5 cord a day production ::)
