what are the farmers thoughts on planting late corn.? i mean the real farmers ;D not like me, im just play time farming. due to circumstances beyond my control i just this past two evenings put out about 13 pounds of g90 sweet corn. just wondering if its going to make or just burn up when it gets hot here.?

i really like to have it out by late feb or early march. anyway its my first time with a real planter. a two row fordson planter.

It'll be alright.

Corn is generally a 90 day crop which needs long, hot, sunny days.

You could plant even later.

February / March is too early.

Would be best to have irrigation but if not, put corn on your deepest soils that ordinarily do well in dry years. Generally, the later we plant the less we make what with hot, dry, winds may ruin pollination and fire-up drought stricken corn. Also you should be prepared to spray for earworms at silking, then regularly as reccomended n your area. Good luck!
