In terms of a landing type loader I would say prentice hands down.  they are the smoothest and most user freindly repair wise. The Hoods are not bad either but I dont like their hydrolic system lay out.  Around me thats the two main brands but there are a few guys with huskys and barkos floating around.

i like prentice, thats what i have now my dream loader is a 180E. i have a 110 now and it is a great loader

Most guys around here are running prentice loaders but there are a few hood and barko's in service as well.

My previous boss had a prentice 210E with a slasher saw and it was all mounted on a self propelled 6x6 truck chassis. It was nice a unit, had plenty of power to move/saw just about anything.

I was a prentice man on my self loader truck till the weight laws got so bad up here in maine, and i went to serco for the weight savings and have been very happy with my 7500! Just sold my tree lenght crane with was a 175 husky brute on a gmc general and that was a nice working old crane! It was a 1985.

Thats the only thing about my 110, its set up on a trailer like a 210 is but its hydralics arent strong enough to turn over a sawbuck :(

Around here, northern Minnesota, most self loading trucks have a Serco 7000 on them. You see a couple of Prentices, Hoods, Barkos, and Lemcos but I'd venture a guess that 80% are Sercos. They have a reputation for rugged reliability. That's the only loader I have any experience with. As far as slasher/loaders, quite a few Hoods it seems like, I also see Prentice and Lemco.

sercos are very nice never seen any in person though. i would like the new 4500 or a 7000 myself

I have a prentice, but have not been able to tell for sure what model as I cannot find any info on it.It works well but is a bit large for being on a short logger.Have it mounted on a White 64wx cab over with 3208 and allison tranny.Aksawyer

a 180E Prentice is a smooth machine , 210 has more reach , but i think you can load a truck alot quicker with a 180E ,,, pleasure to run ,,

treefarmer87

I like the fact that most 180's have a saw package. i like a 210 too though, i unload myself with a 210 @ the mill i haul to. i like the 180 because it is smaller and lighter enough to mount on a tandem truck, but its got the power to do big wood and saw logs with a sawbuck. i was on machinery trader looking @ a 180E i really like the controls, two large joystick-levers.

I always liked the prentice loaders. When i started i had an old 210 with a 353 detroit. That thing would smoke you out of the woods.I still have that old loader she sittin' in the barn ready to go back to work some day.
