New co-owner of a Norwood Lumbermate MX34. Just finished the assembly and plan to try it out this evening. This is my first rodeo so any tips on sawing would be greatly appreciated. Will try to get some pics to post.

Welcome Tazz, just do it, be sure the log is stable not rocking double check that you are above metal mill parts.Look over the logs well, clean and strip bark on dirty areas, start slow and enjoy yourself use smarts when handling heavy logs and cants.Frank C.

Find as many junk logs as you can and start cutting once you start making cuts you will see what you could have done different or see that your cut is exactly what you were looking for, the best teacher is experience  8)

The sun is still up somewhere, Jeff.  I'll bet he is still sawing.  :D :D

Mooseherder

Okay, it's dark and Tazz has been missing for 2 days.
You reckon he has lights on some where? :D

tazz

Sawed some red oak and it worked great. I learned several things right off the bat, like log placement and not backing out of a cut, this resulted in a slung blade. Thought I would check Norwood out on the claim that you can saw 1/16" veneer so I gave it a try and it worked.

fishpharmer

Glad to hear it went well.  Tazz, we would love to see pictures of that veneer.  My mill manufacturer wouldn't dare make a claim like that.  But he might try it. ;D
