The accuset on my 98 super ain't working to good. It will work on the presets if you turn it on from them but won't turn on from the manual/auto button and the presets won't adjust from the arrow buttons, nor can it be turned off without shutting down the saw and turning off the key. Anybody else ever run across this? Is there a fix other than replacement?

Accuset is not servicable. You will need to up grade to Accuset 2. ( I know that is not what you want to hear.)  :( The 1998 should be one of the first revisions. Look on the screen the revision should show up when you turn the switch on.

Lee , I do not see where you have an Accuset. I see where you have a Setworks which is all that was available back then. If the button appear to not me working you can replace the Lexan button cover part number 014530 $37.87. Cheapest route to try first before rejecting the Setworks. Also you say you turn the key off and the Setworks stays on. That will be caused by the accessory solenoid sticking on.    If you find the Setorks is bad we have a Simple Set upgrade for $1295.00 verses the Accuset 2 at $2100.00.   Thanks

Lee. I had a similiar prom on my 97 super. A very tiny amout of moisture had crept in between the layers of plastic on the mode switch and corroded it. This caused the switch to act eratically and jam in one position. As Sparks as suggested a new cover with the included switch fixed it up and it looked just like a new one for a few weeks.

I looked at the manuals that came with the mill whenI bought it second hand and it would appear that I do indeed have a simple setworks. I guess I will be ordering the part Sparks mentioned. The setwrks does not however stay onwhen I turn off te switch. Just the oposite4. I have to turn off the switch to shut it off. I suspect water to be the culprit as the lens did have some fog in it at one point this winter.

That's generous of them but I'd suspect you'd have to buy a lot of additional stuff to get it to work.  Then your luck is like mine, you'd have a problem with at least one component that wouldn't work and is no longer available.  Then too, there is a lot of variation in Accusets from LT70s, LT40s, walk along, command station and years of manufacture, if they've been upgraded along the way, etc.

I sacked up all our old Accuset parts and gave them to the Wood-Mizer service center in Mt. Vernon, MO.  Maybe one of the old parts will keep someone's old Accuset system working a little longer.

LeeB, while you are waiting for your new "Button Cover", go ahead and remove the SetWorks cover.  Remove the 4 screws along the front, pry it up a bit to break the seal, and then bump the unit toward the rear.  It can then be carefully lifted upward.  Disconnect and reconnect each of the ribbon wiring plugins from the display and button unit.

After doing this, turn your switch back on and check your SetWorks.  It just "might" work properly.  If it doesn't, nothing was lost, because you're gonna have to go into the control box anyway.

I finally made it home and got time and enough clear weather to replace the touch pad on my set works. Touch pad works great, :) set works don't work at all now.  >:( Manual mode works fine but in auto it doesn't stop. It just drops until it bottoms out. Any ideas on this? Help me out here Sparks.

Sounds like you are not getting a pulse from the encoder ( PM Generator on the up down chain) Did it work before you installed the touch pads?

Yes it was working, only the pads quit on me. I read the manual last night and there was nothing about anything like this in the troubleshooting section.  ???

Turn the key on. Press the up arrow and then button number 2 and then button number 3. You will see a diagnostic screen. On the screen you will see DIFF. As you raise and lower the head the number should scroll. If it does not then the encoder is faulty. The pads would not have done anything to the encoder unless the cable got pinched or pulled when the head shifted.     Thanks

Doesn't look like the encoder is working. I'll check it out later.Busy trying to get everthing ready for Paul's graduation party. All the rest of the kids are coming in for it too.

Might check the connections to see if they're tight.  I've had the connection to the encoder come loose just a little before and cause problems.  Also check the cable to see if it's damaged.

Found the problem. One of the terminals on the encoder wire got pushed out of the socket somehow and wasn't making contact. i finally managed to get it back in place and then it only worked intermittantly. i nhad to bend the terminal a little so it would make contact with the pin but all is good now. Thanks for all the help and advice. I even adjusted the settings, so now it is much more accurate on the drops.
