I'm sure this has been posted a LOT of times. My neighbor and I would like to build a band saw mill. All the stuff is pretty straightforward, but I do have a few questions and the FF is coming through again.  One question I have is what is a good blade speed? inches per second, is what I assume it to be measured in. I will check the search engine for more info. Thanks for the help so far!

Bob,I've been told about 5000 SFPM [surface feet per minute]some scorces say up to 5800 SFPM with 1 1/2 band.If your bandwheel is 19"[common size]multiply by 3.14 and devide by 12 that will give you feet per revolution. You want to turn a 19" bandwheel aprox. 1000RPM.First thing to do when building a bandmill is get a band and build the mill around it.Read past posts here theirs volumes written.Frank C.
