Good news Dude, learning to be a sawyer is like learning to ride a bicycle you just have to do it and take some spills along the way.The dangerous time is when you get cocky before you get experianced that when you prune metal mill parts.Enjoy the ride and share it with us.Frank C.

Congratulations BD73, you finally got to make some sawdust with the new mill.  8)

I know if it gets much nicer around here, I'll be getting my mill out of the garage.  ;D

I hit the standards within the first few days after first starting to saw.  There is really no excuse for this...the danger area is clearly marked.  But I'll bet we have all done it.  I haven't hit anything in a long time...but I know I will.

Excellent!  I know you are stoked  8)

Thought about you this weekend when I put the big logs on the mill.  I spent a lot of time trimming the big red maple to fit only to discover it was hollow in the middle.  Yielded less than a 100 bf   ::)

Have fun and stay safe  :)

GREAT!  It gets in your blood.  I have not milled in over 6 months.  I just serviced the mill and have it ready for the next open day.  Won't be this weekend though.  I am building a deck 8)
