My 380 will jerk the starter cord from my hand when I start it cold. Is something wrong with the timing on this saw or is this normal? It has been this way since new in 1998.

?? just guessing it might be getting to much gas ! causing a miniture explosion then kicking back....

Sometimes that is caused by the spring in the recoil not releasing when it should. It does,nt pull the dog back soon enough on the gear that turns the fly wheel. I,d try another recoil on this saw and see what happens. Try one of a freinds first so you don,t buy one just to see.
