Microsoft does not offer software updates by email. Most other companies do not either.

There is an email that looks very legitimate, offering updates to Microsoft software with a virus attached.  Don't open it.

Do invest in a good Anti-virus program

I've got a couple of those and my e-mail service flagged them.

Got two of them this morning around 5am.  First one was from "MS" and the second was from something called the "Security Center".  Came about 10 minutes apart and both had attachments so they went straight to the trash can.

Just got another one.  This one was from "Postmaster" with subject "Abort Advice".  More virus attacks in the last 3 days than in the last year.

I have an email address that I only use to correspond with members on FF and WW and that is the only one that is getting hit.

If you get a email with an attachment your not expecting play safe and delete it.

When I picked up the FF e-mail address recently I got 250 virus laden messages. And when I re-joined yahoo for a newsgroup I got nailed by another at least 70 per day for 3-4 days. Then it ran its course and I haven't seen anything except the run-of-the-mill Viagra, spy-on-your-partner, add girth to your geewilliker, buy cheap drugs, real estate scams, and all those wonderful things that make it feel just like the cheapest and worst homesite by a billboard that you can imagine. I need to move to a better virtual 'hood.  lw
