I'm finding that if after I silver solder new carbides on they can be a bit starved of solder.  I found that if I re-coat with flux and re-heat the tip then add a drop of good quality solder to the joint that it flows up around the bass of the carbide and the base giving it added support.  Anyway,  Thought I'd Share.

I have found that I need to add a little as well. The pre-tinned tips have enough to get it on there, but it seems thin once applied. Too much could be a problem as well I guess, I clean up the edges with a flat file if there is a little ugly drop somewhere. :-\

I've also had good luck with adding a drop of solder to the notch in the blade, before I solder the carbide on.
