I may have the opportunity to pickup a used (4) year old 372 that has been used for trimming, so has probably seen quite a bit of use.  The seller is asking $400.00.  Is that a good deal?  I think it sells for around $800.00 new and that's definitely not happening.

Thanks,

GE

Why are they selling it? What's your intended use? What sort of shape is it in overall? Would the seller be willing to take it to a shop (with you) and have it checked out by a service tech?

If it's all good, it's worth the 4 bills IMO.                   :) TT

Only if everything is top notch condition and runs like new. 4 years ago when that saw was sold you could buy them new for $600.  $400 wouldnt be bad if it were like new.

The seller said it had been used quite a bit.  I took it that he used it in a business where it was used daily?  I think a new 372 cost's double what he is asking for this one.

On the other hand, I have a lead on a Stihl ms361 for $300.00, which is supposed to look like new.  It probably has as much power as I need.

Thats a great buy on a 361 for the money. If it is like you say.  Brand new on internet $550 or at the dealers $589. There used to be a dealer in ILL that used to sale them with 20" for $499.

Paid $300 for mine used and it required some attention on the recoil cord.

$400.00 for a well used 4 year old saw? I like my 372, but i don't think I'd pay that kind of money for the one you're describing.

Ended up getting a Jonesred CS2171 off Craigslist for $200.00.  I tested it out on a downed tree at the sellers.  Wish I could of had a saw like this 20 years ago.

I would have paid that too for a 2171. Just goes to show if you have patience and dont need something that day something will turn up for a good price.  8)

Sort of looking for another 365-372 project saw myself, cylinder and piston condition not important. Just a good crankcase etc.

You guys have it good over there, I priced a new 372 yesterday when I picked up a new bar and sprocket for mine $1550 aussie $. :( The Husky 20in bar set me back $100 and sprocket $12.

Gray Eagle, that fella skimed the cream off the saw and wants to sell you 1% skim milk.I would wait and get a new one or find one that needs to be rebuilt if you can do it yourself.Theirs alot of satisfaction in using a saw you got cheap and rebuilt yourself.Frank C.
