quartering a biggggg log with black powder

i read discussion here that if the log is to big for the mill quarter it with a chainsaw. has anyone out there seen the black powder method? that is use saw to gouge i hole in side of log ,,halfway... add powder ,fuse,lite, run.... you know have 2....i have never seen this ,just what a gentleman told me.

I have seen this done in West Africa and the lumber was for the most part useless.  Kind of like having fractures every inch or so around the impact point.  I would not recomend it for any thing but firewood.

Then again there is the chance that North American woos might be able to stand it but I dont think so.

It works, and there is info and some video clips on the forum about it, however its in an area of the forum that has to be grown into. :)  Eventually with enough posts and participation, member access to this area can be obtained.  :)
