And heres a couple of pics of Mill no#5 the Woodcraft 92 model 30-20 A fully hyd Bandsaw Mill  ;) ;D ;D 8) 8) these pics where the only ones i could upload  :( :'(

After a 2 hour phone call to Peter last night where we had a good chat about the mill and alot of other things we came to an agreement on price and are doing a trade for it buy me giving him a $1 a bft au discount of my going rate of $3.10 a bft au over the first 10000bft of cypress pine orderd  ;) ;D  my log costs are only going to $0.42 a bft at 50% recovery so there is still plenty of mony left to cover the sawing costs   ;)  ;D ;D  8) 8) so the Mills costing me $6500 US which i thinks pretty bloody cheap  ;) :D ;D ;D 8) 8) the last time peter used it was 4 months ago and said it didnt miss a beat  ;) put it this way i couldnt buy the parts for that price  ;) and  Ill most likely be picking it up in the next 5 to 8 weeks once i have my other bills paid  and out of the road ;) ;D 8) 8)

The mills in pretty original condition and apart from the faded paint dosent seem to have been abused over the years peter said it would be lucky if it had done over 2000 hours allup with himsef and the original owner  ;) ;D It stands about 7'6" tall runns 24 " solid metal wheels that will run 1.1/4 to 2" band but ill most likely stick with the 1.1/2s that ive allways runn  ;) ;D and It is setup as electric at the moment but he has the original 25 hp motor that runs thats coming with it  ;)
it also comes with afew Tct bands that run at about $350 ea that have alot of life left in em  ;D and a heap of Hss bands that have only been sharpend once or twice and afew New ones also  ;) ;D ;D 8) No sharpener tho  :'( but I still have my semiauto one and setter  that came with the Jonsered bandsaw and my uncle also just got a brand new Auto sharpener and setter for his saw shop in Bendigo about 20 miles away so i might just get him to do the band maint  ;D or go in once a week for an evening and do them myself  ;)  ;D

the plan is to do a full strip down remachine the wheels and reco any worn parts and respray it fit the  motor , Beef it up abit and put it back together and get it  sawing  as the std two cont station mill with feed and sizing on the headrig and deck and loader controls on the bed once its been running awhile ill  change it to a single station mill at the rear side of the bed  ,Make it a dual chain feed and runn the couple of hoses to the sizeing to the Hrig with either a telescopic pantograph or power chain so I can add the extensions to take it out to 30' with only having to bolt the exts on and extentend the drive chains   ;) ;D 8)

I also got a quote of Lucas for a new Kohler 30hp motor complete was only $3000 au which is a great price  ;D 8) 8)  so im thinking of just putting a new motor on it depending how much the rebuild kit is for the original motor is  ;) im also thinking down the track to makins the hyds indipendent of the head motor with its own 10/12 hp motor  so i have either 25 or 30 hp going strait into the bandsaw cut without the power loss  ;) ;D ;D 8)

I think itll make a Nice Sawmill for cuting logs from 8" to 20" dia and the rest will go through the Lucas mill ;) ;D ;D 8)

I wont ever sell any of my gear unless im in a real bind as ive been through selling alot of gear from the log building buisness Mum ,Dad & i worked our Arses off for years  to pay for and they lost their Home and I was lucky to keep my blocks of land  back in 2000 and i aint going through that again ;)  ;D I could sell the carriage and turner to 1 of  my old boss's tomorrow for $15K asis   ;) ;D

SD you could follow me around all day Mate  ;) and not much would come outa Me pockets  :D :D :D as im asset rich and cashflow poor at the moment  ;) :D Thats why my bank manager must like me as he wants to loan me cash and if things go bad he can shaft me out of stuff worth twice as much  :o :o :) ::) I spose thats how things work in the real world  ;) :D :D ;) but all up i only have about $17ks worth of dept + a small loan which only setts me back $500 amonth  ;) ;D 8) So I think im Doin Ok Mate  ;) ;D ;D ;D 8) 8)

Sorry fellas I missed your posts

Gday Chris,

I enjoyed seeing the photos of your sawmill operation. Your equipment layout is quite impresive. I would still like to see it in person if your offer still stands. I will have a free day in Melbourne on April 28th, or 29th. The travel agent can't seem to nail down the details.

Regarding your addiction to sawmill equipment, I expect there is a 12-step program to help you work out of it. There seems to be a 12-step recovery program for most everything. If not, the support group at Forestry Forum can work with you!

Would you PM me with the details of the teeth we were discussing? I can check with my local supplier. I believe that the US dollar is stronger making a purchase in the States a better buy.

What is the latest news regarding the fires?

Gday Chris,

Thanks for the reply. Looking forward in a big way to meeting you and checking out your sawing equipment.  :) I will be in the mid-point of a guided tour when I hit Melbourne. I welcome the chance to break away from the pack and see some country that is off the tour route.  8) I expect the tour may start to remind me of basic training in the USAF. :( I will check on the availability of 12-step programs as I am convinced there may be one that addresses your fixation on accumulating sawmill equipment. I may need to book myself into the program as well. I am into antique farm tractors and we maintain that a fellow does not have a problem until he has more tractors than teeth! :D

For what it is worth, there are some stand-all teeth on eBay just now. The teeth are B/8/5/16" if I remember correctly. There are about 75 in the lot and the current price is $67. The seller is a fellow that I have purchased teeth from before. I have not used stand-alls, but I remember some discussion on them some weeks back.  :P I would be using "ice teeth" if I were sawing at this time of year. I have about 3000 board feet of Norway pine on the log deck, but I'm waiting for warmer weather.

I will stay in touch,
Will
