Need to go from 540 to 1750-1850 RPM's. Any idea where we can get the parts?

Junk yard manual tranny, hooked up backwards, or if a right angle drive would work, rear axle off a rear-drive vehicle, most are somewhere around 3:1

What are you speeding up?  If you're running belted equipment, then you can do it with pulleys.

going from a pto to speed needed for shaving mill, around 1750-1850.

The shavers that I have seen all used a pulley system for the power transfer.  You're looking at speeding it up about 3.25 times.  So your driven pulley has to be 3.25 times smaller than your drive pulley.  (I think I got that right).  Our mill is set up the opposite, since we want to reduce the speed of the electric motor down to 700 RPM.

So, if your drive pulley is 24", then your driven pulley should be about 7½".  That should give you about 1725 RPM.  Figure about 25 hp/belt.
