Broad Axe handles

Recently we found a source for broad axe handles.
These handles will fit axe heads with a 1" x 3" eye.
The handle has a curve to it to offset the axe head so that your hands don't hit the log or timber as you are chopping with the axe.

As shown below:



The above picture is looking down the handle towards the end where the head would be attached.

These handles are basically straight other then the bend for the offset head. So what this means is you can hang your axe head either right handed or left handed as you see fit for the way you want to use the axe.

Each handle comes with a wooden hardwood wedge and a metal wedge for securing the handle to the axe head.



Of course you can always cut the handle shorter to your desired length.....

Yeah, looks like the double bit axe handle, except on the opposite end the handle had a wide taper to prevent your hand from loosing grip. Of course some good old softwood pitch will prevent that. ;)

Howdy Fellas,

As far as getting the bend for an offset broad axe handle yes, steam and a vice will do the trick.

I found a place that has them already to go and has adze and cant hook handles too.
