Dustin (inspector) was at Norm & Patty's June 14 to show us
the finer points of lumber grading. There were 11 of us there
and we sure learned a lot. I don't see how they grade when
they see so much lumber in a day. ElectAl stopped by and
cut an oak log to show us how to open a log to get the best
grade. Norms WM sure is a super saw and quiet, too. Patty
and Norm are great hosts and their place is sure cool. I took
some photos and will insert them below. Those there were
Carl and his daugher from up north Ia and Steve and Penny
from Illinois, Jim and Joan from Navada Ia and Dave. Dave
drives a log truck for a local sawmill. We sure can't leave
out Dustin, ElectAl and our host Patty and Norm. O and
me Sawwood. We sure had a great time and i am sure we
will all be stoping by Norm & Pattys place if we are in the
 area    :P   8)

Great shots, Sawwood. We had fun that day, didn't we!

If anyone else wants to teach a class...Norm & I will be happy to host again, we enjoyed meeting other sawyers and folks with the same interests as us.

I not sure what type of classes any one would like but for
me a all day saw class would be great. Not only how to
open a log like Al showed us but what to do when you find
a problem. One would be if you see that the next cut will
have a knot in it, would you turn the log ? Also quarter saw,
not just where to cut but how to hold thoes pices on the mill.

I am working to have a mill some day and would like to be
better informed when i start. Any takers on this idea ?
