Does anybody still make sandstone grinding wheels?  In the range of 8-12" diameter specifically.

If not you could make one yourself .  Sandstone is a lot softer than limestone . I have made corbels out of limestone useing woodworking tools.  Give it a go.

What would a sandstone be used for anyways? To put a finer edge on when wet?

Sandstone was what they used for the old treadle grinding wheels that ran in a wet bath or had a water dropper above them.  I want to put a sandstone wheel on a hand crank grinder though.  Don't quite have the room for a 2 foot wheel on a treadle base.
