One of my tree companies calls last night and says, we got a bunch of pallet pine tomorrow.  I get there this morning to find a whack of DEAD pine.  At least he had a load of dead ash that I already cut up for me. :o

Then another calls this afternoon......How much for a nice 40 foot section of white oak,,,straight and clear...........................hmmmmm   nothing really cause your white oak is  HICKORY!!!! :D :D :D

Any hickory I've encountered pops in half, or at least gets horrible splits. I advise dropping it on the mill directly and have someone limbing while you start milling on the other end. ::) I did manage to saw out 1mbf of pignut last winter, ends only split in about a foot each. :(
