Got my new Grizzly jointer in and had to replace the standard cutter with the Byrd, as Grizzly only installs the chicom one, changing the cutterhead was much harder on the parallelagram jointer than on a standard one, as you have to take off the infeed table, that's the way Grizzly advises, and that was a bit of a pain, especially the getting it put back part, but after changing it out and using it for a while, glad to report that it is a great jointer, am happy to be able to flatten a board 11 3/4 wide.  You lose about 1/4" because the inserts on the cutterhead set at an angle.  And you can no longer use the jointer to do rabbit joints, also because of the cutterhead.  Probably would still work with the chicom head, have to ask Grizzly.
My name's Jim, I like wood.

A 12" wide jointer....I'm jealous  ;)  An 8" is nice, but there's always those wide boards....
