just came across these guys website last night so here's another bandmill to look at www.beaversaw.ca

Coon

Their hydraulic log tapers are quite unique... ;D ;D  They are nothing but a smaller hydraulic floor jack with a bent piece of flat iron for lifting the log. ;)
Norwood Lumbermate 2000 w/Kohler,
Husqvarna, Stihl and, Jonsereds Saws

The bed is pretty light weight, wonder how it stands up to real use as there are only four corner supports.
That light weight frame will flex at the axel.
Only one clamp and two dogs for 20'?
The hydraulic levelers are just sitting on angle iron. ::)
The carriage is basicly a Norwood knock off as well.

But, it comes with a personalized name plate at no extra cost! 8)

I kind of like that log leveller - Seeing as I have none, I might just borrow that idea!
I was the smartest 16 year old I ever knew.

WoodMizer's toe boards used to be like that.  the Rams were single action and the weight of the log retracted them when the release valve was opened.  Pretty simple operation and it works good too.

Is that a garage dood spring on the head up / down ?
Been there, done that.   Never got caught [/b]
Retired and not doing much anymore and still not getting caught

dancan

yes it's a garage spring , they work very well , a friend has a SMG Champion Portable Sawmill which has a similar setup and have found it to be very dependable and easy to use .

Norwoods are built the same way.
It allows you to adjust the counterbalance to suit you.
