Morning all..for those who missed the earlier posts the Lombardini LD1204, turbo 40 horse 3800 odd hours, finally died after a turbo failure. I sourced a brand new replacement LD1404 naturally aspirated 35horse motor locally and it bolted straight in, almost. Only mods required were
-a slight adjustment to the wiring loom to compensate for a 10 year gap in sensor plug design
-the addition of a Donaldson air precleaner and an exhaust cap.
The two Woodmizer parts that did not fit were the alternator replacment bracket/pulley and the throttle cable. A slight change to the design of the engine timing cover etc means that the alternator is mounted differently and does not fit. I disconnected the Lombardini alternator wiring and left in in place. the throttle cablle os not long enough to reach around the new aircleaner, but some minor bends and tweaks to brackets made it fit.  It is really a 6 hour exercise on bolting unbolting. Highly recommended as a replacement engine making you realise how tired the old motor was. After 35 hours it still only burning 8litres a day ..only appreciable difference is that it does not rev up on clutch-in as fast as the turbo did.

Original engine..ready for removal

Removed, air cleaner missing.

New engine still on the pallet. It cam complete with radiator, exhaust everything you need plus some stuff you dont....rear mounts/alternator/wiring loom etc

All fitted and running.
