All the way from Winn Michigan. :) My grandmother is sorting through the many decades of stuff in her house, and there are a lot of neat things appearing. My grandfather was involved with Morbark very early on selling pulpwood debarkers. I guess there are other Morbark things down there as well. I don't know how old this is, but I am guessing early 60's, maybe older.

I guess she has another lighter the size of a flask, although, I think it probably is a flask.

Winn is only a stones throw from here. The founder, Nub Morey was my old boss's brother in law.  I would guess a date on the lighter no earlier then 1965. This is the 50th anniversary year for them and I imagine that it took a few years to get to the point of givaways such as the lighter.  :)  I'm sure the lighter has Forestall connections because the Mobark sawmills were almost exact copies.

I made a mistake. this is 50 years for morbark. That lighter could be a few years older.

I don't know exactly when my grandfather and his brother were with Morbark, but I know that is was very close to the begining, they hadn't gotten in the chipper business yet. I don't know who bought out Forestall, it may have been Morbark, but I am not sure, I am stilling investigating. :P :)

Welcome to the Forum, Jerry Morey. Remus MI, isn't that the home of Brush Bandit? :) (I like Morbark and Bandit chippers by the way, both have served us well.)

Better be careful, you steppin into a real family fued there.  Morbark and Bandit have connections that go beyond just similiar products.  I have a few clients from each company, and I stay out of THAT conversation.   :o

That is a COOL item for sure.

I didn't know that. :o If I stirred something up, I am sorry. I only recognized the location and made the connection to BB, I didn't know there was a family thing going on. I'll say no more.

I got a couple more things from my grandmother yesterday. An unopened pack of playing cards from Forestall, the company my grandfather and his older brother started. Also a pack of cards from Hosmer Machine. My grandfather also worked for them, but I don't know anymore than that. They made forestry equipment as well, I believe.

I know The Forestall building became Spectrum mailing, but three guys started CMC in Bow NH then moved to Chichester on route 4 . I fabricated some stuff for them when I worked for South End Iron (the old Fisher stove plant in Bow NH ) I thought they were affiliated with Forestall but I was a youngster then and had my mind on "other" things !

A couple more items. Morbark of the Northeast was Forestall. ;) There was also a keychain, but it wouldn't cooperate with the camera.

I believe I've seen Morbark around the woods up here to.

Some nice mementos Dave.  :)

SD If there are any Morbark pulpwood debarkers from the late 50's, or early 60's in your area, they were probably sold by my grandfather. How far are you from Calais, ME? My grandfather, his brothers, and a bunch of other characters had a hunting camp there on what was IP land. I guess GP owns it now.

There is lots of pulpwood up here, but I'm thinking 1980's models. Forest companies had big debarking operations set up on crown and freehold hardwood forest land.

When I was in the shop I did a lot of work on the morbarks. Made parts, welded them up and remachine them. Midwest timber in the U.P. was the last one useing them around here . Hope I'm thinking of the right one, we did work on 3-4 different brands and we only seen parts off them. China not the only place that dose knock-offs. Don't know if we were suppost to be messing with them or not.

Here are a couple more Morbark finds from my grandfathers house.

This is the table lighter that I mentioned before:

This is a sales brochure for Forestall Sawmills. Forestalls goal was to have a complete package that could be installed quickly to get a mill setup in as little time as possible.

I have been trying to research Forestall sawmills. As best I know, Forestall began making sawmills for Morbark, in fact I believe they were first known as Morbark of the Northeast. I don't know if they were making a Morbark designed mill, or a mill of their own design for Morbark. Apparently the mills were made by CMC after the Forestall company closed.

Do any of these pictures look like the mill you ran Jeff?

they have many many similarities from what I can see.  Our mill was a 3 headblock circa 1972
