You might not have much luck finding that out.  After all, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, I hear. ;) ;D

I was at the Mirage last year.  It seemed like a pretty nice place.  My wife has been at the Wynn, the Venetian and the Bellagio, as well.  She gets to go on business trips.  But, all of the strip hotels are expensive, so they have to be nice.

Take lots of money.  Food is expensive.  Drinks are free if you're playing.

There are a few places to see for the sheer entertainment value.  The tunnel is a must.  Its on the old strip where the Golden Nugget is located, and has a light show about every hour, and lasts about 5 minutes.  Treasure Island has a show out front, but it draws big crowds.  Bellagio has the dancing fountains.  I never had any problems walking the strip at night.  Large crowds lends to the security.

I took a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon when I was there.  Way cool.  Shows are expensive.  Of course, if you hit it big, things don't seem as expensive.   ;)

I used to travel to Vegas a lot on business.... ;) ;) ;)

It got so I always stayed at the Bellagio...Nice rooms, great service and they always treat returning guests very well......

I always seemed to leave with a small amount of their money...except once when I left a large amount of mine there.. :D :D :D
Why not just 1 pain free day?

They keep tearing down the places I stayed at     :D
Of course it is to replace them with newer buildings.

What everyone has said is true. If you don't mind not being in the newest and fanciest, and don't have to be right on the strip, then a nice place to stay can be had at a lower rate.

Going during the week instead of the weekend will get you a room at nearly half price. If you need to move around much while there, consider renting a car as the taxi's and driver tips add up.

Hooters is not on the strip but is relatively new and during the week thier rooms are like $52. Not to mention the scenery ain't bad.  ;)

I stayed downtown both times I've been, once at the Golden Nugget and once at Fitzgerald's.  The Nugget was really nice.  Everything there is strictly first class.  Fitzgerald's was so-so nice...decent, but nothing special.  I like the downtown area because everything is so close together you don't need a car.  All the famous old casinos are within about a 3 block square.  I liked going into a lot of the small casinos you find there.  A lot of them are like a neighborhood bar, but with slot machines. :)

Even the gas stations on the edge of town have a few slots.

There is a lot of info available online, believe it or not.   ;D

I see they have the existing tram, the approved tram, and the proposed tram.
Once they get er all in, you will be able to board a tram at the airport and go bout anywhere ya want, including the Thomas and Mac Arena.

When I went the first time, in '92, there were slots in McDonald's and at the airport.  I guess they meant to get your first nickel, your last dime, and the change from your Buck at Mickey D's!

Stay, I don't know.  Last time I was in Vegas I don't remember where I stayed.  Some small 2nd tier casino off the strip, but I was there for a particular musical act and that was where they were playing.

I do recall my dinner at the Rio, though.  The buffet there is worth every dime of what you pay, plan on going there hungry and staying a while.

All the big names along the strip are super nice.  The Hard Rock is off the strip, and can provide some of the wildest partying if your into that.  Heck, its fun to just sit and watch the freak show go by.  There are still a ton of discount places to stay if your willing to take a 10 minute taxi ride to get to the strip.

The hospital emergency room has video poker.  I slipped on the wet street and had to get stitches.   I never thought it rained out there, it poured 8 inches one weekend while we were there.

Mom goes out every few months and stays at the Venetian.  I stayed at the Orient once, I thought it was a dump compared to the others.  MGM and Ceasar's were both nice also and right in the middle of everything.  But that's all I'm saying about Vegas  :-X

I stayed in The Orleans just off the strip. Pretty new and very nice 3 years ago. The airport has slots as well. They aim to get ya first.Security can be a hassel getting in to the airport to get home. Allow plenty of time. Rent a car and you can park at most hotels on the strip for a tip and cover 3 or 4 of them in one stop. The Treasure Island show was pretty good for a free one as well.
4 nights their was plenty for me. Had to come home to sleep.

My husband goes out 4x a year - takes me only once. (Doesn't sound fair, I Know) We stay at Bally's or Paris. Easy to get around from there. I like the Mirage BJ tables. They were very good to me.  We're going the 1st week of October! I can't wait. I love Vegas!

I only played blackjack at the Mirage on the last day.  It was hard to find a $5 table after 11 AM.  I played for 2 hours, had 2 free drinks, and lost $2.  Much better than slots.

I stayed at the Sahara when I went for the AWFS show this year.It was an ok place to stay but is on the old end of the strip as I call it.All the good stuff is on the other end of the strip. If you go to the Tresure Island show be sure to stand at the dock by the big white ship. That is where most all the action is at.We messed up and got on the strip side of the show.I went in the Hooters casino hotel and New York New York and the Luxor(pyramid)Those 3 were excellent places. The Excalibur is nice too.Just my $.02.

Some people stay at a little ranch north of town where they raise bunnies. I don't happen to be one of them. I only can take Vegas in small doses.

We go in December to the National Finals Rodeo and hope to see my nephew compete this year.
Last year we stayed at the New Frontier( but is one of the older ones) and one night walked across the street to the Winn. Heck, they even have a car dealership in it. We were way out of our class in that place. I couldn't get out soon enough.

We've been going to Las Vegas for over 30 years now, 3 and 4 times a year since we retired.  For a number of years we've been staying at the Station Casinos, mostly Boulder Station or more often Sunset Station, out in Henderson.  Far less expensive then the Strip or even downtown, good places to eat and far better odds then anywhere on the Strip.  Not near the glitz if that's what you're after but pretty much everything else and much less expensive.  Rental car helps but you can cab it or they run curtesy buses.

If you're going on your own nickel and want to keep the price down - you could try staying in Henderson ( think I got that right ) . Small casino/hotel  overlooking Hoover dam was quiet clean and priced right ( about 10+  ( maybe 20 ? ) yrs ago the room was $19 for three adults and $2 got you ham, eggs, pancakes, homefries,oj and coffee 24x7 ) but you'd need to find parking when driving back into vegas for the sights.

I've stayed at the Bellagio, where everything costs $ and their cheapest blackjack table is $5. Two years ago, I took my son to a Navy reunion. We stayed at the Tuscany. It is two blocks off the strip and has a small casino and coffee shop. The rooms weren't fancy, but very large and only $60.

Bill, I hate to be the one to tell ya, but there is nothing that low anymore.
Used to, some of the places would let ya eat free or at a very low price. Not anymore. The food is wonderful and there are plenty of buffetts, but they will charge plenty to partake. Shuttle busses used to be free and then went to $5 from the airport now are $15. :(

I guess I got to visit in the "good ole days".   The casinos pretty much were the center of everything.  They were the reason that the state had no income tax and they also paid the buses and restaurants.  You could get steak and lobster lunches/suppers for a dollar.  Room rents, accept for the ritzy ones, were negligable, there were free busses, almost free taxis, lots of glitz, lights and free drinks served at the tables, including the slots.   If you were going to the casinos, it hardly cost a thing .....till you got inside.  Then, you found that they were the worlds best at coming between you and your money.  The really funny thing is that they made you enjoy being rolled.  :D

The lights were on night and day inside of the casinos.  You could spend days playing and lose track of, not just time, but days as well.  If you had a room at the casino, you could find that you hadn't used it in the entire weekend. It's a non-stop city.

I got to see Redd Foxx's house on one of the tours.  It was pink.  Not only was the house pink, but so was the fence and gate.......and the grass and the trees and sidewalks and roof and etc.

It seems that he had just gotten a divorce and his X was being really mean about this particular piece of property.  She was going to take it regardless of what he did or said.  So, He had it painted pink.  The whole thing.   :D    The newspaper was haveing a hayday over it.

Haytrader

Ditto on the lose track of time.
One morning I was hunting a first cup of coffee at about 7 AM and as I got off the elevator I met some guys I know who were just heading to bed.   :D

The drinks are still free, if you are dropping a quarter or three.

Went to a conference last April that was held at the Tuscany.  Unfortunately, we stayed about a block away at a dump called Terrible's.  It was well named.   :D
The Tuscany Suites was much nicer but I don't ever plan to go back to that city if I can help it.  I'm not into that scene at all.  ::)  There's nothing there that interests me whatsoever.
