Don't know bout them shirts. Are they cleared for export or will I get stopped going back into Minnesota with one?  Oh well, probably get stopped anyway, Minnesota needs the money and them troopers think I drive too fast anyway.   :D

For those that have never been to Madison before, that old saying about "the shortest distance between two points is a straight line" just doesn't work in that town. You got to go the round about way.  :)

Hey all,
Chris's flight has been delayed, so his 31 hour journey has turned into 35hrs +.  Burlkraft is graciously staying up past his bedtime to go pick Chris up from the airport at 9.30pmish.
Looks like you are all ready to go, that log looks fantastic... we've definitely got some people here drooling, we can't wait to see photos.
Have fun  ;D

Corley5

We're keeping Burlkraft propped up and awake to make his pickp ;D ;) :)

Now one would think that with Corley's net connection and Jeff's web cam, we could have all come along for this whole trip. :-\ :'(

Well, I now have a madison LIbrary card!   No internet at the hotel.

Did I miss something?  The log is NOT located at 4430 Helgesen Road.  For anyone else who missed that, go East another 2-3 blocks then south on Daniels.  Cant miss the big piece of wood.   Since I THOUGHT I had Steves phone number, I did not bother to get it before I left....   1st mistake.   I didnt have it after all.  Wellllll, I found the rigging company, got ahold of the operator, and he told me where it was.  Location solved.

We are at a super hotel.  Theres a BBQ grill and big out door seating area.  We have a suite with a frig and oven and eating area.   Cold beer and hot steaks?   I havent heard from anyone here, so dont know where they are working on lies and strategies for tomorrow.

We are right near the Old Town cheese and beer place, so if you guys are within walking distance let me know.   Otherwise I guess we'll see everyone tomorrow.

Well I made it!!
The gaurds at the room sleept through my entry... :-\.
After getting a few hours sleep we went on the tour of Madison and surroundings. THEN....
we went to the  "LOG". 8)
For the record...Steves mill is designed for 4foot diameter tops, the log is actually 6'10"and is 21 feet long  :o :o. Steve asked if I wanted to go home now :D.
We are looking forward to the challenge, I have delegated myself to photographer (so I dont have to work hard). I will make sure that I have it when they cut them slabs anyway ;D.
will keep you all posted with progress, need some sleep now!
Husband.
BTW. Hello wife, I am working hard......honest ::)

Jeff

Were having a great time, (unless your Chet, then, were having a miserable time) ;D  Today we went and had one of those heart attak burgers, then went for a guided tour of the USFS Forest Products Laboratory, then went on a tour of Eggimann's facilities, then on to Steve's house to load up the mill and tools for tomorrow. After that we came back and rehydrated at the hotel for awhile just after we took Chris to check out the log.  We have a ton of photos to post at some point and will have a ton more. Its to hard to post right now as greg has zero software on this computer to do the job however I did do this one one line. Its of the heart attack hamburger attack crew. :)

I was thinkin the Burlkraft mill was a wide frame ::) ::)

After sawin that 6' dia. Pilon, with a narrow frame, NOW I get to see how the "Pro" does it .  Hi Chris. Say hi to Kerris for me.
