Hello again. I have a Nyle L200 kiln set up for about 2500 bd ft. I put in 1100 ft [properly baffled] of green 4/4 red oak, [just off mill with some frozen]. At 80 deg., rh. was 90%. There was a FOG inside like acid rain.  :P  My thoughts were to control drying to prevent checks and other degrade. Fan guard on L200 is rusted badly. At this rate, will my kiln operate very well for very long? I'm concerned !!!! Advise please. Homer.

Homer, oak produces an acid when drying - very corrosive for the inside of a kiln.

The factory components for the Nyle kilns are designed to withstand the rigors of the acid.  My fans have some surface rust on them in a few spots, but overall are ok.  They are the Dayton fans that Nyle sells.

Give Don Lewis a call at Nyle for more advice.
