to go Christmas shopping at 3 a.m? Five Walmart stores in our area are opening 24/7 next week.  ::) I wonder where they will find the temporary staff to work graveyard for minimum wage.

I spent last Wednesday in a Walmart with Carla. She shopped and I wandered around and visited with people I hadn't seen for awhile and occasionally I'd sneak up on Carla and move her shopping cart then watch her from afar while she looked for it.
She says she hates shopping with me.

I'm with you WS. I enjoy the season, but dread it as well. I hate fighting the crowds.  :(

I love Christmas and all the hubbub that comes with it...the crowds, the shopping, the presents, the lights, and yes even shopping at 3:00 in the morning if the mood strikes me.

It is the most wonderful time of the year.  :)

sawguy,

We have 7 walmart stores and a sam's club with in half hour drive and EVERYONE of them is open 24/7 all year long. Whats amazing is i've been past a couple of them in the middle of the night and there are a lot of cars in the parking lot. I cant believe there is enough business to have that many stores in such a tight area but i guess they are making the money or they wouldnt be there.

I'm with you Patty i love the hussle and bussle of the holidays. But by the time its all over i'm ready for a nap.
Every log i open up, a board falls out!!!

I'm not big on Christmas much anymore, this year in particular.

The fact that it's warm & wet instead of cold and snowy doesn't help, it's not Christmas if it isn't white outside.

I'm thinking if it's gonna stay this way I just might load up the scary-plane and head south, if it's gonna be warm, it might as well be palm tree warm.    fred_head

I've found that shopping at 3 am is when there is a lot of shelf-stocking going on, and seems that if the doors were locked, ther'd be people wanting to know why the store is all lit up, and people in there, and why they can't get in........so they keep it open all night at these busy times.  Don't know that's true, but just thinkin in might work out that way. Makes sense to stock the shelves when most of the shoppers are not also clogging the aisles (although that happens too  :) ).

Whistle (low & over & land) by Madison (Middleton airport would be best) and maybe some of us locals could meet you for a breakfast roll, coffee, lunch or dinner (or all of the above) if'n it would be on your way. It is on the West side of Madison and Scott's Pastry has a place there now. Also good eating places within easy distance of this new airport. I didn't draw any straight 'crow-fly' lines so don't know if its on a flight path or not. Hope so.

I know Beenthere invited ya, but remember that Madison has a squadren of F16's now........Them guys are just itchin'....I'm sure ;D ;D ;D :D :D :D :D
Why not just 1 pain free day?

Murf

Thanks for the invite guys, but since my trusty GPS says Madison, WI, is 494 statute miles west of here to as the crow flies, that would make for about 1,000 extra miles there and back, and since Florida (and the Bahamas) are south and east of here.......

However, I might wander over that way later on, the scenery's just beutiful over that way.  ::)

Murf, Come on down to sunny LArgo Florida, if you miss the local airport, Mac Dill is right across the bay I'm sure they will escort you down.

Now that the kids are grown (and gone out to BC), and we have no grandchildren, we decided that we have "enough".  Now we give all the $ we would spend on presents for grown kids, Moms, inlaws and outlaws, to our local Food Bank.  Makes the "giving" feel great and there's absolutly no crowds, stress, or parking lots to deal with.

The get-togethers, hockey games, etc still happen...maybe even more 'cause we've got all sorts of free time we are not spending shopping.
