At least one of 'em is legitimate. ;D

Under pine tree in my front yard; porcupine nest maybe?

Close up of one of the eggs......

Picked this up at a salvage yard about 20 years ago, because I was intrigued by it....

If both sides had a hammer, it would probably weigh about 20 #;  the handle is only a little more than an inch, so it wasn't used to hammer with.  Any ideas?

and after being at a blacksmith demo this past weekend, my wild guess is a blacksmith hammer for working hot steel from a forge, maybe plow shares or horse shoes. I'll be interested in what they really are.
A similar shaped 'hammer' was being used to pound out red hot steel into a variety of shapes.

Maybe our resident member Darla would know.

The handle may be a replacement and not to specs.  ::)

The eggs look like chestnuts or chinkapins

Try browsing around this site to ID your hammer.

My guess would be a blacksmith  "hammer". You wouldn't actually hammer with it, the handle would be used for one person to hold it in place while another struck the flat face.
