Been trying to ween 88 year old dad off building 100 pound cabinets for a while.  Got him interested in building small clocks couple months back.  In full production right now.  Thought you guys might to see a few of many.

Ebony, curly maple, walnut, and spalted sycamore.

Walnut, red oak, and a little maple inlay on the side.

Walnut, curly maple, red oak, and spalted sycamore.

Walnut, curly maple, honey locust, and spalted sycamore.

All are destined for benefit auctions or presents.

Took him more wood today to help fill out his palette of colors to work with...QS sycamore, elm, sarvis, autumn olive, and white mulberry.

Not hard to see where ya got YOUR woodworking start, Larry.  ;D ;D  Nice clocks.

Second, it is violently opposed; and
Third, it is accepted as self-evident.

Them clocks sure are pretty. Larry, those clocks show  us young folks that if we keep working and learning we can make something that pretty someday.  ;) ;D

Larry, your dad's pretty talented. I knew a fellow in his 80's who did just as your dad. He used to make clocks, jewelery boxes, decan benches, hope chests, card tables, cabinets and give most of it away to family and neighbors as well to a good cause. He used to carve a little bit also and he made a sleigh and horses with all leather harnass and traces and such. It looked almost like a sleigh my uncle had for hauling pulpwood in the winter with his team of horses.  8)
