The boys and I had a fun week on the the water.

Over the past several years a Lake Sturgeon reintroduction into Tennessee waterways has been underway.  Periodically a release would take place and the boys and I would participate.  The first couple of releases the sturgeon were small - about 6".  But over the years, the fish they released got bigger and bigger.

These pics are of Tuesday's release.  Some of these fish were up to 3', but most were 24 - 30".  Wednesday's release had some four footers!  It is great fun to get out in the water and handle these fish.

Here is the tank truck...

A net full of sturgeon...

One of my boys lending a hand...

Some sturgeon in the water...

They were not in a big hurry to get away.  Many just lurked around for 15-20 minutes before drifting away.  This behavior is one reason they were no longer in or waterways.  It almost seemed some did not want to leave...

Like this guy...

Here is a link to the local news paper which gives all the neccesary cudo's to all involved.  Type "stugeon" in the search box and the artical will pop up.

I do what the little voices in my wife's head tell me to do.

Wow, looks like you could just about fire up the BBQ and they'd walk over onto it!!!

Looks like your boys had a great time!

Thanks for showing us the photos!

When I was younger, I vaguely remember Sturgeon Steak being on some Restaurant menus.  Kinda like you find Shark on menus today.

I've never eaten any.
