Am asking this for someone else... he is in New Mexico at 7200 ft and wants to plant a wind break.  So far he has selected ash, smooth sumac, lilac, and plum.  I was wondering what species are easy to grow, would do well there and meet his needs.  ???

Getting his trees through the state and from what I gather only hardwoods are available so far.

They should check with the local conservation district or service forester locally where they are purchasing the trees for a recommendation on which available species are recommended as being best for windbreak development at their elevation and ecosystem.
