I blew the engine on a 2101 a while back and the top half of the engine is done but the bottom half is in real good shape. I called Baileys and new piston and cylinder would be about $300 I could rebuild it myself but don't know if I sould sell it for parts or buy a new or used 3120. Got any suggestions? ???

Can you find another one for parts or use yours to kep the other one going? $300 is a lot to spend on an old saw.

You might get lucky and try a 395 jug and 394 piston. I would find somebody who has the parts and try it. If you can't do that then ebay the saw and go for a 3120 or 395, I'm not big on the 394 as they just didn't run right. A 3120 power head can be found used for a decent price. I know I have one for sale (head only) with a ported muffler and high rev coil.
I race a bit, just enough to keep me in debt
